How to use it in class
Say every word first. Name each picture together before pencils move, and stretch the missing sound: “c-a-a-at”. A child who hears the vowel finds the letter; one who guesses from the picture alone writes any letter that fits.
Use the letter bank, then fold it. Younger children cross letters off the bank as they use them, so the last gap checks itself. For a harder round, fold the bank and the answers line under before you hand the sheet out.
Watch the vowels. Most gaps are vowels on purpose: they are where spelling and sound part ways in English. When a child writes “e” for “ee”, say both words aloud side by side rather than correcting the letter.
Questions teachers ask
How much does it cost?
Nothing. All 55 topics open and print free, with no sign-up.
What age is it for?
Ages 6–10. Knows the letter names and reads first words. The words in every topic are beginner level; the age range comes from what the sheet asks of the child.
Which letters are missing?
One letter in short words, two or three in longer ones — vowels first, because that is where English spelling and sound part ways. The first letter is always given, and the letter bank lists every missing letter.
