Classroom noise meter
Free · no ads · no accounts
Children hear “too loud” as an opinion and see a picture as a fact. This meter listens through your device's microphone and moves one honest bar: quiet, getting louder, and — the moment the room tips over — a bear who wakes up with a startled face. Nobody is told off, and the class quietens itself because they can watch it happening.
💡 How teachers use it
- 🌼Leave it on during group work and agree that the bear must stay asleep.
- 🌼Use it for silent reading — the bar makes “quiet” something children can aim at.
- 🌼Pair it with the timer: five minutes of work, and the bear never wakes up.
❓ Questions teachers ask
Do you record or store the sound?
No. The page only measures how loud the signal is, moment by moment, and forgets it immediately. Nothing is recorded, nothing is saved and nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Why does it ask for microphone permission?
It is the only way a browser can hear the room. Your browser asks once per device, and if you say no the meter simply stays asleep — nothing else on the page changes.
The bar barely moves in my classroom. Can I fix that?
Slide the sensitivity up: a big room with the laptop at the front needs more of it than a small one. If it still does not move, check which microphone your browser is using.
🖥️ All of them on one screen
Need the timer, the name picker and the quiet meter at the same time? The Classroom Screen puts every widget on one full-screen dashboard.
