A new riddle every day at midnight.
A riddle is a tiny reading lesson with a prize at the end. Every clue is a sentence a beginner can already say, and the class has to keep all of them in mind to win — listening, vocabulary and thinking in English, in under a minute.
Every answer is a picture word from the site's flashcards and games, with its own page in the picture dictionary, so a riddle can open or close a topic lesson. On the Russian and Spanish pages each riddle has a support line in the class's own language.
Clues like these:I am yellow.I have a long neck.I live in the sea.

🧑🏫 How to play riddles in class
- Read one clue at a time. Stop after each clue and let the class guess — the first clue should be the hard one.
- Show the three pictures only when the class is stuck. Choosing is easier than remembering, so the pictures are the help, not the game.
- Swap roles: a child reads a printed card aloud and the class guesses. The answer is printed upside down at the bottom, so the reader can check it.
- Finish by writing a riddle together with the frame below.
✏️ Make your own riddle
Children fill in the lines about an animal or a thing in the classroom, then read them aloud for the class to guess. Most first riddles are about pets, and that is fine.
I am ________.
I have ________.
I can ________.
I live ________.
What am I?
