Teacher's guide
How to run the scene in a lesson, the language it practises and what to do next.
In an online lesson
- Share your screen and start in Explore. Ask “What's this?” before you tap, and “Do you like cheese?” after: a quick yes or no keeps every child talking.
- In Make a sandwich, read the instruction together, then let the child tell you what to do: “Put the cheese on the plate.” You drag, they check the sandwich.
- In Listen & find, turn the labels off. When the child taps the right food, ask them to say the sentence the scene says.
- In Sing along, play the chant once, then turn on Repeat after me and ask the child to point at each food as it lights up. Afterwards ask “What can you eat?” and wait for an answer from the song: “Bread and cheese!”
In the classroom
- On an interactive whiteboard, go full screen and invite children up one at a time to add a layer to the sandwich.
- Bring a plate and paper food cut-outs: while one child builds the sandwich on the board, a partner builds the same one at their desk.
- For Count & say, the class counts aloud together before anyone taps a number; then everyone says the model sentence.
- With the class, pass a toy plate or a real apple around while you sing; whoever holds it when the song stops says one food line on their own. Rub your tummy on “Yum, yum, yum” to keep everyone on the beat.
Target language
The scene models these structures out loud. Say them with the children.
- What's this? It's an apple.
- It's bread. It's cheese.
