A right answer deserves applause, and a drumroll makes even the smallest reveal feel enormous. Eight big pads, eight sounds: clapping, a drumroll, a fanfare, a bell, sparkles, a whoosh, a boing and a buzzer so gentle that being wrong is still fun. The keys 1 to 8 play them too, so you can keep your eyes on the class. Every sound is built by the browser as you press it — there is nothing to download and nothing to load.

Where do the sounds come from?
Your browser builds every one of them from scratch the moment you press a pad. No files are downloaded, which is why the board works on slow wifi and offline.
Why is there no sound the first time?
Browsers keep audio switched off until you touch the page, so the board shows a “tap to turn sound on” button. One tap and every pad works for the rest of the lesson.
It is silent on my iPad — what now?
Check the little switch on the side and the mute setting in Control Centre: iPads silence web pages the same way they silence a video. The volume slider here only changes how loud the pads are.
