Hello songs, goodbye songs, a little tune for tidy-up time — a music corner makes a language lesson warmer, but nobody carries a xylophone to class. This one lives in the browser: a piano with proper black keys and a rainbow xylophone, both with the note names written right on them. The keys are sized for small fingers, a slide of the hand plays a glissando, and every note is made by the browser itself — nothing downloads, so it works on the worst classroom wifi.

How teachers use it
- Play three notes for “sit down, please” until the class answers the tune before the words.
- Let the birthday child plink the celebration song while everyone sings in English.
- Ask a child to find “do” and “sol” by their labels — note names are vocabulary too.
Questions teachers ask
Why is there no sound when I press a key?
Browsers keep every page silent until you have clicked somewhere on it once — it is an autoplay rule, not a fault. Tap the sound button (or any key twice) and the instruments wake up; the volume slider is next to it.
Are the notes actually in tune?
Yes — each key is synthesised at its real pitch (A above middle C is 440 Hz), so a melody you teach here sounds right on a real piano too. The piano and the xylophone share the same tuning, just different voices.
Can two children play at the same time?
On a touchscreen, yes — every finger is its own press, so four hands on a tablet make chords (and a certain amount of joyful noise). With a mouse it is one note at a time.
