The words cross each other the way a real crossword demands, the emoji serve as clues, and the answers print upside-down at the foot of the sheet — the whole puzzle ritual, from any list you type.
Crosswords quietly drill spelling: to fill a crossing, the child has to get every shared letter exactly right. It is the rare puzzle where checking your neighbour's word is part of solving your own.

💬 Questions
What are the clues, if children can't read definitions?
Pictures. Each slot shows the word's emoji and its length, so the puzzle tests spelling and vocabulary rather than reading comprehension — which is exactly the right target at this age.
Some of my words didn't make it into the grid. Why?
A word can only join if it shares a letter with a word already placed — that is what makes it a crossword. Try 'New puzzle' for a different arrangement, or swap in words with more common letters.
