First column is the model — the child says it aloud, traces twice, then writes free-hand on the line.

How to use it in class

  1. Say it, then trace it. Before the pencils move, the class says the word with you. Tracing a word you can say joins the sound to the spelling; tracing in silence is copying shapes.

  2. Start where the letter starts. Show on the board where each letter begins and which way the pencil goes. A child who traces from the wrong end builds a habit that is hard to undo — watch the first row before they carry on.

  3. Make one copy last. Slip the sheet into a plastic sleeve and trace with a whiteboard pen: wipe it and go again, all week. Press “Other words” for a second sheet from the same topic.
