How to use it in class

  1. A few children per lesson. Don't test the whole class at once: check three or four children while the others play a game. One sheet per child lasts the whole unit.

  2. Climb the ladder, stop at the first gap. Say a word and ask the child to point to it on the poster; then to repeat it; then show a picture and wait for them to name it. Where they first get stuck is what to teach next.

  3. Use “almost”, then check again. ◐ means “almost” — said with help, or with a sound missing. Repeat the check at the end of the unit in another colour, and parents see the progress on one sheet.
