How to play

  1. Choose one, three, five or ten minutes.

  2. Turn the glass and the stardust begins to fall.

  3. The moon ring empties along with the minutes.

  4. Hold the sand whenever you need to, then let it fall again.

  5. A soft gong says the time is up.

Variations

Three ways to play it differently once the class knows the rules.

  1. Beat the glass

Tidy-up race: turn the glass and see whether everything is put away before the gong.

  2. Think time

One silent minute to think before any hand goes up, so the slower thinkers get there too.

  3. Hold the sand

When the room gets loud, hold the sand; let it fall again once it is quiet. No words needed.
