How to fold it
PrintPrint the sheet on A4, on one side only.
Colour and writeColour the front (bottom right) and write the message in the top half. It is upside down on purpose.
Fold acrossFold the top half back, behind the picture, along the dashed line across the middle.
Fold down the middleFold it in half along the dashed line down the middle, with the picture on the outside. Sign the back, and it is ready to give.
What to write inside
Short wishes with a picture each. Read them together, let every child choose one or two, and copy them onto the lines.
- Merry Christmas!
- Happy New Year!
- Happy holidays!
- Dear…
- I wish you…
- lots of fun
- good luck
- love and happiness
- lots of presents
- a snowy winter
- Thank you for…
- You are the best!
- See you next year!
- Love from…
Which greeting?
“Merry Christmas!” for Christmas, “Happy New Year!” for New Year, both together when the card is for the whole holiday, and “Happy Holidays!” for a class where families celebrate different things.
Questions teachers ask
What do kids write inside a Christmas card?
Dear and the name, the greeting, one wish (I wish you lots of fun) and Love from with their own name. The lines inside the card follow exactly that order.
What age are the cards for?
Colouring the front works from four; writing the message from about six, when a child can copy words from the board. Older children can write a longer wish on the empty lines.
