Two-minute energy boosters for the mid-lesson slump

Around minute twenty, every kids' lesson dips — attention wanes, answers slow, and pushing the plan harder digs the hole deeper. You don't need a break from the lesson; you need two minutes of different fuel inside it.
Six boosters
- Speed round — same task, 2× speed, big timer visible. Novelty through tempo alone.
- Teacher challenge — 'Beat me: who names more fruits in 30 seconds?' Lose by one, always.
- Silly rule injection — continue the game, but answers only in a whisper / robot voice / with eyes closed.
- Mystery envelope — a sealed 'secret task' opened at the slump: inside, any 1-minute game. The seal does 80% of the work.
- Ten-second dance — music blast, freeze, continue. Cheaper than a full break, nearly as effective.
- Dice storm — roll our dice; that many jumps, claps or animal names. Number + movement = reboot.
Read the tank, not the clock
The slump isn't always at minute twenty — Mondays differ from Fridays, mornings from evenings. The skill is noticing the FIRST slow answer and injecting fuel then, not three questions later when the hole is deep.
⭐ Take this with you
Don't fight the slump with discipline — refuel through it: tempo, challenge, silliness or dice. Two minutes of different energy buys twenty of the normal kind.
