Most 'online warm-ups' are classroom games squeezed through a webcam. These eight go the other way: they only exist BECAUSE of the call. The grid of windows is a bingo card; the mute button is a game mechanic; the camera frame is a stage curtain.
The eight
- Window wave — call two names; those windows wave to each other and swap a greeting.
- Curtain up — everyone ducks below camera; on 'Curtain up!' pop into frame as an emotion. Class guesses.
- Mute mystery — one child speaks a word on mute; the class lip-reads.
- Background hunt — 'Everyone, point at something blue IN SOMEONE ELSE'S window!'
- Corner run — 'Touch the top-left corner of your camera frame… now bottom-right!' Prepositions in disguise.
- Freeze grid — dance; when you spotlight a student, only THEY freeze. Attention stays glued.
- Pass the clap — clap 'to' a named window; that child claps to the next. A rhythm chain across cities.
- Fortune Wheel spotlight — spin the wheel on screen; the chosen name answers today's silly question.
